For Switzerland’s Mr. Gay World Representative Marco Tornese the challenge for him is very simple, attain equal rights in Switzerland.

And he can only do that by winning the Mr. Gay World competition which gets underway in Spain in just over a weeks time.

The 32-year-old’s chance to be Mr. Gay Switzerland came about after seeing his ex-boyfriend compete a few years ago.

He was asked to compete in 2016 but at the time he was acting in a gay theatre production called Wintermond.

Fast forward 12 months and the newest delegate, who can speak five different languages, is getting set to win the title for his country for the first time.

“I’m happy that I have Chris Krauel as my coach. He was 2nd place winner last year as Mister Gay World (Austria) and he has given me some good advice to prepare me perfectly for the Mister Gay World Challenges,” Marco explained to eikon.

“Also my ex-boyfriend was a participant some years ago for Switzerland and he spoke a lot to me about the competition.”

Although Spain is only a short trip from where he lives in Lausanne, Marco is still very excited about the Spanish finals and meeting all of the other Mr. Gay World finalists.

“I have not yet had the opportunity to meet or speak to my fellow contestants… however, I do look forward to meeting them next month in Madrid.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting Mr. Gay Australia, I’ve seen his blog and Mr. Gay New Zealand with his important message and cute smile.

“The competition is a new experience for me and is very exciting. I think it’s a mix of all sorts that excites me however I really look forward to meeting interesting people from all over the world.”

Marco believes the one thing that will set him apart in Madrid and Maspalomas will be his message that he wants to share with the world.

“I think there are different attributes. The most important will be my message.

“It’s not just a “Hashtag” as my message. I will bring a solution, a product to present at Mister Gay World that can maybe change our community.”

Marco Tornese is one of 20 delegates heading to the Mr. Gay World finals to be held in Spain from 5-10 May.
