After a relaxing three week break for Formula One’s newest whiz kid, Lando Norris heads to his next assignment in Belgium with injury concerns and a car breakdown.

Lando Norris, 19, has impressed greatly during his maiden Grand Prix season, regularly scoring top ten finishes and is currently sitting at 10th on the drivers’ championship ahead of highly fancied Daniel Ricciardo.

But for the youngest driver in the championship this year, it has been his off-track activities that have gained even more attention than his on-track driving, clearly showing his youthful cheeky side and a sign that the new guard of F1 is here.

While Norris was on holiday in Croatia during Formula One’s summer shutdown, McLaren (His racing team) said he inflamed a tendon while running.

McLaren insists the protective boot that he was seen wearing earlier this week is a “precautionary measure” and are confident he will race this weekend.

But Norris admitted to being in extreme pain as the injury heals.

“I have got my leg support on (and) I’m dying,” Norris said.

“I did so much walking today, and I am injured. It frickin’ hurts.”

Norris has been enjoying his regular golf driving range games with his other racing friends and has continued to spend many hours, at home or in his hotel room, driving in the F1 video game.

Earlier in the season, he competed in a 12-hour bout of sim racing using his simulator with Red Bull racer Max Verstappen.

Despite their real-life demanding careers at the pinnacle of motorsport, Verstappen and Norris remain avid sim racers, often teaming up for online events.

Ahead of this weekend’s first race back after the break, Norris has had an unfortunate breakdown of his own car on a freeway.

“I’m really excited to get back in the car again. It was nice to take some time out and recharge, but I’m ready to go again,” said Norris in a statement.

“I’ll be working flat-out for the rest of the season, getting prepared for the races ahead with my engineers and making sure I’m on top of the fly-aways to come at tracks that I’ve never raced on.”

Norris is part of the “BritPack” that has gathered momentum this year with Williams driver George Russell and Alex Albon, who has driven so well he has been promoted from the Toro Rosso team across to the Red Bull Team for the remainder of the season.

These three have been very close over the first half of the season and add them to the other youngsters of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, Toro Rosso’s Pierre Gasly and Verstappen himself, there is plenty of fun and games going on with Formula One racing this year.
