When two Aussie best friends decided to put on magic shows no one could’ve imagined that they would end up getting their clothes off on stage to create something that had never been done before.

Christopher Wayne and Mike Tyler have created The Naked Magicians, known as the world’s funniest and naughtiest magic show.

The show, playing at Auckland’s Town Hall in early May, strips away the top hats and capes, promising full-frontal illusions. Left without sleeves or pockets, their saucy magic is baffling and entertaining, bringing a new meaning to “now you see it”.

Speaking with Eikon, one of the Naked Magicians Christopher Wayne said they wanted to create something that had never been done before.

“Nobody had ever made a naughty magic show,” said Wayne.

“We decided to take this fun art, and make it as funny, naughty, and sexy as possible. It changed our lives.”

Wayne has actually lost more than 45 kilograms along his fitness journey for the show, but said it can be tough keeping the bodies trim when touring.

“We want to turn our audience on as much as we amaze them and make them laugh, so we exercise at least once a day, every day.

“The hardest part is eating healthy on the road, but we do our best to make it work.”

Seen on London’s West End, in 200+ cities around the world, and by over 50 million people on TV, this is a huge success story for two Aussie boys.

As expected, the majority of the audience is straight women, but there is definitely lots to see for the gay male audience as well.

“Although our audiences are 75% women, we love the inclusivity of our show. This show is for anyone who has a cheeky side – and the gay community loves the show.

“While other “male review” type shows are all female audiences, we love looking into the crowd and seeing people of all genders and orientations enjoying what we have brought them.

“The magic blows them away. The comedy makes them laugh until they cry. And then when the clothes come off….it’s simply the best kind of pandemonium.”

The Naked Magicians will appear at the Auckland Town Hall as part of the NZ International Comedy Festival from May 1 to 5, 2018.
