Australian TV juggernaut reality show My Kitchen Rules (MKR) will this week reveal its first openly gay contestant.

22-year-old Jordan Bruno from Wanneroo in Western Australia is representing the State on the reality cooking series with his mum Anna and will not shy away from revealing his true identity when his episode appears soon.

Speaking with the West Australian, the property valuer said he was honoured to be representing the gay community on the show.

“It’s just a part of who I am and I don’t like to hide any part of that,” Bruno explained.

“I hope I can be a role model, that’s one of the things I hope to gain from the show because there hasn’t really been an openly gay contestant before. I am very proud to be waving the gay flag.”

While he still lives at home, Jordan said he was happily loved up with his boyfriend of nine months, Giles.

“He’s not really in the limelight, he is very quiet and reserved,” the property valuer said.

“He is excited to watch the show as long as it doesn’t affect him.”

The Brunos are among the first contestants to cook on MKR in group one and will be interesting to follow if they can continue further into the show.

In 2014 former MKR contestant, teenager Matt Newell came out as gay as did Carly and Tresne who outed themselves as a lesbian couple after appearing on the popular cooking show.

My Kitchen Rules screens weeknights at 7.30pm on Channel 7.
