Rocket man Paramount

Paramount Studios is facing criticism after speculation that the Hollywood based giant is pushing to censor a gay sex scene featured in the upcoming and highly anticipated Elton John biopic titled Rocketman.

First reported by Baz Bamigboye of the Daily Mail, Paramount Studios are pressuring director Dexter Fletcher and producer Matthew Vaughn to edit out a gay sex scene featuring Elton John (Taron Egerton) and John’s manager and lover John Reid (Richard Madden).

It is reported that the 40-second scene shows the couple’s “fully exposed white derrieres” however, Bamigboye says the scene is “tastefully done.”

According to the Daily Mail, the reasoning behind the new found censorship is related to the studio’s hopes to replicate similar success to the Queen biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody,” which had a PG-13 rating, something which Paramount Studios appears to be set on obtaining.

Rocketman will hit theatres from the 31st of May, prior to Elton John’s first autobiography book, and his Farewell World Tour.
