Ralph Lauren released its new ad campaign today which includes a same-sex couple, a first for the 52-year-old New York clothing brand.
In the ad titled “Family is who you love,” families spend time together while sporting Ralph Lauren clothes.
The people in the “Family is who you love” campaign are real families and not actors according to Adage.
In the commercial, two women appear to be in a same-sex relationship and are affectionate with each other.
“We live in a world where the meaning of family is bigger, broader and more personal than it has ever been before,” Jonathan Bottomley, Chief Marketing Officer of Polo Ralph Lauren, said in a statement.
“We believe that family is one of the most positive forces and powerful unifiers for all of us today, [and this campaign is a] fresh expression of that idea.”
Ralph Lauren have lifted their marketing spend by more than 18 per cent this year and sees this campaign as a move that will continue to increase their profits which lifted by 5 per cent in the past 12 months.
