Apple has announced the release of new limited-edition red models of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, with a portion of the profits from sales going to programs that combat HIV and AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa.
The limited-edition phones which are part of the PRODUCT(RED) initiative, following the tech giants partnership with the PRODUCT(RED) in 2017 when they released the limited-edition white-bezzled iPhone 7 models.
According to Apple, the Californian based company has donated more than $160 million to combat HIV and AIDS since partnering with the Global Fund in 2006, a number that makes Apple the charity’s largest corporate donor.
The special edition PRODUCT(RED) iPhone 8 and 8 Plus models have a black front face and a slick red backside. The iPhones will be available to order online in select countries and regions on Tuesday the 10th of April and available in stores beginning Friday the 13th of April 2018.
