FabALICE is a unique showcase of Drag, Family and Cabaret events, celebrating the inclusivity and diversity of the Red Centre.
2024 marks the 30th anniversary of the widely acclaimed movie “Priscilla – Queen of the Desert”. The 1994 Australian comedy-drama film quickly attained cult status within the LGBTQI community. The plot follows two drag queens and a transgender woman as they journey across the Australian Outback from Sydney to Alice Springs in a tour bus that they have named “Priscilla”, along the way encountering various groups and individuals.
The opportunity to develop an internationally recognised long-term annual festival event for Central Australia uniquely called the ‘fabALICE Festival’. The 4-day festival showcases comedy, cabaret, live music, community pageant and social activities whilst paying homage to this iconic cult movie and stage musical with a new Priscilla hub bar, Budget Barbie Camper town tours and a dress-up rescreening of the movie and prizes for the best dressed.
