Hanky is the Gay Dating App With More Sexy Users Than Any Other, or Does it?

Every second week we see a new gay app launch for your mobile phone and this week comes Hanky, the gay app that claims to get ‘more sexy’ users than any other. But will you even get a chance to use it?

Unlike other apps such as Tinder and Grindr, Hanky requires the vote of other members in order to join the app.

The strict rules, which entails three existing users of the app casting a vote to decide which potential new users make the cut, have been set up by the app developers in order to keep out the ‘creeps, time-wasters and fake profiles’ which are present on other apps.

The pretentious app rejects a whopping 8 out of 10 applicants, so it says.

Now this either smacks of elitism or is it just a rouse to create hype and get you to download it and then all of a sudden everyone will be accepted? Similar to what nightclubs do world-wide. Keep revellers in a line out the front to make it look like your venue is popular but really there’s no one inside.

Cofounder of Hanky Jones Cronfeld said the app aims to get ‘more sexy’ users.

“For a long time, we’ve been fed up with the vibe of the other gay apps.”

The makers of the app understand that they won’t be hitting five million users anytime soon as so many get turned away.

“Sure, big numbers are nice, but none of our competitors have got the actual experience right ­ something we will never compromise on.”

So he says now, but when the financiers ask for a return on their investment, how strong will his morals be then?

Although the app claims to be different from the rest – it doesn’t seem to offer much diversity, in the respect that although it seems to be a little more judgmental than the rest, the use of the app is pretty similar to many other popular dating apps.

Hanky simply connects you with other guys in your area, and then you swipe right to like or left to pass.

Finally, if someone likes you back, you’ve got yourself a match.

Sound like anything you may have already used? *Cough* Tinder?

Oh, and it seems there is some sort of loophole in the app.

Obviously, it’s on a ‘who you know’ basis, though.

This basically means that if you didn’t make the visual cut, once judged by three other already exclusive members, you can be sent a verification request to join by someone who is already a member.

But prepare to be one of the only non-model-like men on there. Or not, I don’t think many of us will care.
