Sydney radio newsreader Brooklyn Ross is set to appear in a brand new gay dating show with media outlets suggesting it will be The Gay Bachelor.

Newsreader for Kiis FM’s Kyle and Jackie O show since 2015, Ross dropped clues on the show this week intimating he is involved in a secret gay dating show.

‘It’s in the works… give me a month or two and I’ll let you know what’s going on,’ he told hosts Kyle and Jackie O.

When asked by Kyle if it was “Take Me Out” which is the new Network Seven show beginning in two weeks Ross clarified the type of show it was going to be.

“This one’s more secret”

“Yeah, I don’t think anyone knows about this one yet,” added Jackie.

Rumours are strong that the Australian Married at First Sight show will include their second male gay couple next year following the same-sex marriage law change this year. Ross also poured hot water on that.

‘”It’s not a big, Married At First Sight [show] or anything like that,” Ross replied.

Never Been an Official Gay Bachelor Series

There has never been an official gay-themed Bachelor or Bachelorette tv show although there has been similar style shows produced in the past.

In 2016 ‘Finding Prince Charming’ appeared in the US with Lance Bass as host of the show. The show handed out black ties instead of roses and eliminated male contestants until there was one winner.

After originally committing to a second season the show was not renewed.

Other shows of similar style included Boys Meets Boy in 2003 where a gay man met 15 other guys and eventually chooses one to date. The twist was that the group was made up of both gay and straight men.

The other was Playing it Straight which appeared in the UK, US and Australia where a female contestant had to whittle down a list of men and eventually choose one.

The twist was that the group was again made up of gay and straight men and for her to win the guy she chose had to be straight.

Brooklyn Ross Follows His Boss Into TV

The chance for Brooklyn Ross to have his own tv show follows his boss Kyle Sandilands who’s own show ‘Trial by Kyle’ appeared during ‘Pilot Week’ on Network Ten last week.

The Daily Mail asked Kiis FM for a comment regarding the gay dating show rumours and they were just as non-committal as the hosts.

“Unfortunately we can’t give any more details besides what was already spoken about on air – as soon as they can say more they will,’ said a spokesperson to Daily Mail.
