America is in a flap this morning with the news that former N-Sync member and openly gay radio presenter Lance Bass will host a new reality dating show, just for gay men.
The headlines abound that this is the first dating show specifically for gay men but to be clear the new show entitled “Finding Prince Charming” is the first to just involve gay guys dating as opposed to being included within other reality dating formats.
There have been shows such as “Playing it Straight” and “Boy meets boy” where guys have been looking for love but there’s been the twist of the pool of guys featuring some straight guys as well who are trying to trick the man into thinking they are gay.
The new show will screen on the Logo network in the US and it’s not clear yet whether the show will have syndication across the rest of the world.
Gay men will compete for the attention of “one of the nation’s most eligible gay heartthrobs,” the network said in a press release.
Like ABC’s popular “The Bachelor,” 13 contestants will live together, with one being eliminated each week.
The idea is for the last man to be ready to “commit to an exclusive relationship.”
The show premieres in the US Fall season.
