Fundraising website GoFundMe has shut down the Israel Folau campaign due to the page violating the terms of service of GoFundMe.
The fundraising page was set up on Friday and by Monday morning had raised more than $1 million.
In a statement following the removal of the page, GoFundMe said all of the donations will be refunded
“After a period of routine evaluation, we have concluded that this campaign violates our terms of service,” GoFundMe said in a statement.
“As a company, we are absolutely committed to the fight for equality LGBTIQ+ people and fostering an environment of inclusion.
“While we welcome GoFundMes engaging in diverse civil debate, we do not tolerate the promotion of discrimination and exclusion.”
Israel Foalu was aiming to raise more than $3 million to assist with his legal fight against Rugby Australia for his sacking following social media posts.
