The Queen of Disco did it again! Australian music legend Kylie Minogue has added another dazzling crown to her already glittering career, snatching the first-ever Grammy Award for Best Pop Dance Recording with her single “Padam Padam.”
This momentous win marks a two-decade wait for the pop princess, her last Grammy landing in her hands way back in 2004. It also followed her victory at the ARIA awards in November where she landed the gong for Best Pop Release, again her first for 20 years.
The award was announced during the 65th Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony, where around 80 of the coveted golden gramophones were distributed before the televised main event. This separate ceremony allows for greater recognition of diverse musical achievements, and Minogue’s victory shines brightly among them.
Minogue quickly posted to social media to show the moment she was told of the victory, dressed in a robe in her hotel room before preparing to attend the awards.

“Padam Padam,” a dancefloor-filling gem released in 2023, is a sonic love letter to the French pop icon Françoise Hardy. Its infectious energy and Minogue’s signature vocals made it an instant fan favourite, and now, the Recording Academy has officially solidified its brilliance.
The victory was at the expense of fellow Australian Troye Sivan who was also a nominee in the same category with his thumping single Rush.
Minogue’s triumph, however, holds an extra layer of significance. Her dedication to her craft, the enduring love of her gay fans, and her continuous evolution as an artist have all culminated in this well-deserved moment.
“Padam Padam” may be a song about a heartbeat, but for Kylie Minogue, this Grammy win signifies the vibrant pulse of her career, which continues to defy expectations and captivate audiences worldwide.
Congratulations, Kylie! This is just the beginning of another exciting chapter in your pop music royalty!
