Real-life Gay parents, Larry Sullivan, David Monahan and their son Cooper have featured in a heartwarming new commercial that uses the tagline “Made for Real, Real Life.”
The new Campbell’s (Star Wars) Soup commercial, in the US, shows each dad attempting to do their best Darth Vadar impersonation as they both tell Cooper “I am your Father.”
The commercial highlights the natural chemistry and love that is clearly visible within the real-life family.
Campbell’s VP-marketing activation, Yin Woon Rani explained to Ad Age that they had initially planned for a 15 second commercial, however as the family was so appealing it was extended to also include a 30 second version.
“We use this phrase internally of this notion of “moment telling,” Woon Rani said.
“We wanted to tell just very simple, telegraphic stories that didn’t always need the space of a 30 second. It was sort of a lucky extra because that story just ended up being so rich and so endearing.”
