As the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week kicked off in Sydney this week, it was announced that men’s fashion is increasing and it’s no longer just the domain of fashionistas.

The first of the major men’s designers to appear at this week’s event launched yesterday at the Boy Charlton Pool in the shadows of a very imposing warship docked at the near Garden Island.

New York-based designer Garrett Neff launched his Katama brand of men’s casual and swimwear for the first time in Australia.

Featuring some strapping bods, the models walked the edges of the pool while the fashion industry chewed over a booming men’s fashion market.

Over the past 12 months, sales of menswear in Australia has risen 3 per cent compared to 2 percent for women.

The entire menswear industry is expected to contribute about $600 billion to the global market by 2020.
