Fresh off his recent success at the 2015 World Rowing Championship in France, openly gay Olympian from New Zealand, Robbie Manson speaks with Eikon about his life so far and what makes him tick.

4Q – Do you have any advise for any young gay sportsmen/women who are afraid to come out or are afraid to get involved in sports, fearing that their sexuality would hinder them being accepted or able to compete?

A – Don’t let it hold you back!

I had those exact thoughts, thinking that I wouldn’t be able to keep rowing if anyone found out that I was gay. I was so wrong. Coming out has given me so much more confidence, I feel like I can do anything now.
