Grab your tissues, Heartstopper fans! The official trailer for Season 3 has just dropped, and it’s shaping up to be an emotional whirlwind.

The two-and-a-half-minute preview offers glimpses into the deepening relationship between Nick and Charlie, as well as the challenges they’re set to face.

You’ll recall the nail-biting finale of Season 2, where Charlie (Joe Locke) and Nick (Kit Connor) poured their hearts out to each other.

As Charlie walked home, he typed out a seemingly unsent “I love you” message to Nick, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats.

Series creator and writer Alice Oseman has now revealed what’s in store for the beloved characters.

“Season 2 ended with Nick beginning to understand the extent of Charlie’s mental health issues, and it’s this that will drive the story through Season 3,” Oseman told Netflix.

She promises a more mature tone, delving into themes of mental health, sex, university ambitions, and the complexities of growing up.

The new season will draw inspiration from the original comics, also created by Oseman, but will forge its own path.

“In the comics, there are a couple of moments where Charlie thinks he’s going to say ‘I love you’ and then decides not to, but the actual cliffhanger at the end of Season 2 is not something that is in the comics,” Oseman said.

Fans can expect all eight episodes of Heartstopper Season 3 to hit Netflix on October 3. Oseman hints at a noticeable growth in the characters, reflecting the actors’ real-life aging.

“In Season 1, they feel like kids, but now they are definitely teens,” she said.
