The newly crowned Mr Gay Germany 2018 has vowed to use his victory to encourage younger members of the LGBT community to be more inclusive of the 50+ age group and integrate them better into gay scene life.
Enrique Doleschy, 29, captured the Mr Gay Germany 2018 crown last night at an event in Cologne.
The final, held over 3 days, included a sports challenge, a written test and photo shoots, with the finale consisting of a catwalk fashion parade before the Doleschy was crowned by last years winner Pascal Nissing.
The final was not without controversy as one of the finalists had to withdraw from the final due to his work in the automotive industry not allowing him to continue.
Jan Holzschneider was a favourite for the title and even though he had support from his employer, the “conservative nature” of the motor industry in Germany meant the sales manager didn’t feel comfortable putting himself out there for this year’s competition.
In a statement, Holzschneider said “It was a hard decision for me, but for the moment, the only thing. I would like to thank you here for the beautiful time and wish all candidates for the final on 02.12.2017 very good luck.”
But for the winner Enrique, a financial adviser from Mainz in the Western half of Germany near Frankfurt, he was a very popular winner taking the title ahead of Philipp Schneider the runner-up and Jonas Ko the second runner-up.
Enrique has vowed to keep his campaign going called Silver Side of the Rainbow to get the younger lgbtqi+ audience to look beyond the box and integrate the generation 50 + into the scene life. #SilverRainbow
He will most likely take that campaign with him to the Mr Gay World Final when that is held next year.
