There’s still five weeks to go before the results are hand down on the same-sex marriage postal survey and the vitriol from both sides will continue to dominate the media and conversations until that date.

In an effort to provide a safe space for LGBTIQ+ individuals and their families, a number of Melbourne organisations have come together to create Q-Space.

This is a community-led response to promote and support the LGBTIQ+ community’s need to access positive mental and emotional wellbeing support for themselves or their loved ones.

Q-space Melbourne will offer mutual support with positive peers and allies as well as access to queer mental health professionals for mental health support.

The three organisations looking after the venuw are Parents of Gender Diverse Children (www.ds.org.au), Proud 2 Play (www.proud2play.org.au) and queerspace @ drummond street services (www.ds.org.au).

This safe space will be available for young LGBTIQ+ people and Rainbow families, children and their parents on Wednesdays between 4pm – 5.30 pm and for adults (Over 18+) LGBTI+ community members, 6pm – 7.30 pm.

Further details of location and activities can only be accessed by emailing: [email protected].
