Hold onto your wigs, Down Under fam! Season 4 of Drag Race Down Under is revving its engines with news that filming begins soon in Auckland, New Zealand and a confirmed RuPaul presence, despite conflicting US tour dates.
Mark your calendars for February 16, because that’s when Aussie drag hopefuls jet set to Auckland to begin filming with their Kiwi rivals.
But fear not, Ru-demption is upon us! Yes, despite concerns raised by fans due to RuPaul’s upcoming US book tour, media reports have confirmed that the Queen herself will be gracing the Down Under stage again.
RuPaul is releasing his memoir The House of Hidden Meanings and is doing a book tour across the United States starting on March 4. So it’s assumed that filming will be completed before then to allow him to make the 16-hour flight to New York in time for the first event.

However, season 4 isn’t just about familiar faces. Taking note of last season’s critiques, production has implemented some key changes to level up the competition.
Insiders have revealed a generous budget boost for the queens, with each receiving a cool USD 2000 to elevate their runway looks and some have suggested the production budget has been lifted to give the series a spruce-up.
Speaking of lewks, the biggest question on everyone’s mind is – who are the Queens joining the fight for the crown?
New Zealand based website YOUR EX has suggested a dazzling Wellington blonde, a talented Auckland musician, and a Family Bar regular will be strutting their stuff on stage. No word yet on which Aussie queens have grabbed their tickets for the flight next week.
The Down Under series has been filmed in Auckland since 2021 when the first season was filmed during the pandemic between Auckland lockdowns. It has now filmed three series with the fourth just upon us.
