In a celebration of diversity, resilience, and the unifying power of music, the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Choir (SGLC) is set to present ‘Echoes of Pride’ at Petersham Town Hall on Saturday, 26 October. This extraordinary event promises to take audiences on a journey that echoes the struggles, triumphs, and indomitable spirit of the LGBTQIA+ community.
The concert will feature a carefully curated selection of songs from over a decade of SGLC’s repertoire. From uplifting anthems like ‘I’m Still Standing’ to timeless classics such as ‘Over The Rainbow’, each song will resonate with themes of love, acceptance, and hope.
Music Director Adam Majsay shared, “With popular queer anthems and commissioned works inspired by the personal experiences of the SGLC members, you’ll experience the beauty of our voices united in harmony, as we celebrate the strength and vibrancy of our community.”
The Sydney Gay & Lesbian Choir has been an integral part of Sydney’s LGBTQI community for more than three decades, providing a soundtrack to the city’s vibrant queer culture.
As a non-auditioned choir, SGLC welcomes members regardless of their sexual identity or musical experience, fostering a sense of unity and inclusion through the love of singing.
The choir has maintained a vital and visible presence in the history of Sydney’s LGBTQIA+ community since 1991, serving as a powerful symbol of diversity, inclusion, and harmony.
‘Echoes of Pride’ will be held at Petersham Town Hall, located at 107 Crystal St, Petersham, NSW 2049. There will be two performances, one at 4pm and another at 8pm.
Tickets, ranging from $25 to $50, are on sale now and can be purchased here. The performances will be Auslan interpreted, and Auslan seats will provide a clear sightline to the interpreters.
