The YouTube world is abuzz this week with the impending launch of the album from Australian/South African Troye Sivan.
Troye hit the headlines two years ago when he was one of the first YouTube hosts to make a coming out video on his own channel.
That immediately thrust him and his talent into the world spotlight.
Since then he has amassed 3.5 million subscribers, had more than 192 million video views and has had a top 10 music single with his first music release entitled Happy Little Pill.
Sivan led the chorus of Youtubers that decided to use the format to express the sexuality, notably someone he has been romantically linked with, Connor Franta.
The excitement is building for his next music single release after he dropped a teaser video last week entitled Blue Neighbourhood.
What is surprising is it seems to include a lot of issues that are neccessarily avoided by the youtube community.
The video show snippets of a narrative that involves young friendship, gay male sex, alcoholism and violence all tied up in a 47 second video.
The video seems to be very adult, not something that is attributed to Sivan given his young look and youtuhful fun videos on his channel.
Even the squeaky cleanest of YouTube stars, all the chaste pretty faces blinking across the internet void, they too will someday bloom and sour into adulthood.
Troye is no novice at teasing his audience and building excitement for his brand but this one seems to take a step into the darkness, one which will be interesting to watch as the single comes online in coming weeks.
