Bernard Lee has been announced as Mr Gay New Zealand 2016.
In front of large LYC Big Gay Out crowd at Auckland’s Coyle Park Bernard was named the country’s new ambassador and will head to the Mr Gay World Finals in Malta in April.
Based in Wellington, the charity worker who was born in Borneo before moving to New Zealand in 2009 also supports the NZAF as a volunteer.
First Runner-up in the competition was Paolo Amantes and Second Runner-up was Samuel White.
Eight finalists from all over New Zealand and from different diverse backgrounds competed in the 2016 competition. Today at the Big Gay Out, finalists were put through their paces by judges Tamati Coffey, Nikki Kay, Medulla Oblongata and 2015 Mr Gay New Zealand Matt Fistonich.
Following a question and answer session with all of the finalists on stage, they were also judged on two different types of fashion wear, Formal and Casual, as well as a number of other criteria across the past week including a fundraising charity drive today which raised $1,092 for the New Zealand Aids Foundation.
