The Boston Globe once proclaimed it the most Gayest City on Earth, well now Israel’s business capital will host one of the campest competition’s in the World after Tel Aviv was announced as host city for Eurovision 2019.

The city was announced as host by European Broadcasting Executive Supervisor Jon Ola Sand overnight after bids were also received by Eilat and Jerusalem, the former ruled out due to the need to work 24 hours a day seven days a week which goes against the religion of the region.

“We received three strong bids but in the end we decided Tel Aviv had the overall best setup to host the biggest entertainment show in the world,” said Ola Sand.

“We are excited to bring the Eurovision Song Contest to a brand new city.”

Israel gained the right to host next year’s event after Netta won the competition this year in Lisbon Portugal.

All countries in Europe, including Australia, that participate in Eurovision will now start preparing their contestants and broadcasters to perform on stage in Tel Aviv from the 14th of May.

The grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest will be held on the 18th of May, with the semifinals taking place on the 14th and 16th of May.

Rehearsals are expected to start on Sunday the 5th of May, though this has not been confirmed yet.

The 64th Eurovision Song Contest will be taking place at the Expo Tel Aviv (International Convention Center).
