Preparations for the annual GABA Charity Auction and Luncheon taking place this Sunday (15th November) at the Hilton Auckland are well underway, with bookings selling out fast.
Proudly supported by ANZ, the GABA Charity Auction will be hosted by New Zealand’s very own Olympic speed skater and international LGBTI advocate Blake Skjellerup, and will feature an outstanding programme of live music that includes a choral medley from GALS (Gay and Lesbian Singers), plus a performance by Pigeon & Bellfrog, the collaborative project of leading young New Zealand composers Claire Cowan and Alex Taylor.
The nautically-themed “BUOYS & GALS” Auction will be steered by GABA’s official auctioneer Michelle Maitland from George Walkers Auctions, and assisted by Mr. Gay New Zealand 2015, Matt Fistonich, and burlesque babe Miss Leda Petit.
The Auction block includes a wide range of generous and desirable items that range from a public speaking and presentation skills master class with former Prime Minister Helen Clark’s media advisor Maggie Eyre, to a $1150 advertising package with eikōn, to a full-size life-buoy marked HMNZS Idi Amin from the nautical room of the historic Famous Flora’s brothel in Pitt Street!
The glamour travel package will undoubtedly be a romantic 5-night stay for two adults in a luxury Waterfront Villa at The Havannah in Vanuatu, including return flights to Port Vila flying Air New Zealand. Valued at over $5000, this adults-only luxury travel package has been generously donated by The Havannah Vanuatu and Air New Zealand.
Exclusive personal experiences that could be yours for the taking including dinner with Auckland Central MP Nicki Kaye at Bellamy’s in Parliament, dinner with Kelston MP Carmel Sepuloni at her West Auckland home, lunch with Auckland’s Deputy Mayor Penny Hulse, and sunset cocktails with celebrated authors Peter Wells and Douglas Lloyd Jenkins at their modernist masterpiece house.
Car enthusiasts have plenty to get revved up about too, such as unlimited use of a top-of-the-range Hyundai Veloster Turbo sports car for 7 days, a chauffeur-driven Jaguar XJ12C for up to 10 hours, and generous donations from Grey Lynn TYREWORX and Mayne Automotive.
The auction catalogue also features Mr. Gay New Zealand, Matt Fistonich’s signed All Blacks Uniform from Mr. Gay World 2015, and works by established and emerging artists including popular Australian painter Ross Watson, Fran Marno, Christine Spring, Miriam Saphira, and fashion illustrator Sean Cai.
A limited amount of tickets that must be secured by 9 pm Wednesday, November 11 are still available online through Eventfinder, via email, or in person at The Eagle Bar, Marcello’s Caffé and The Women’s Bookshop.
