Social media star Jojo Siwa will take to the floor as the first same-sex couple in the 30th season of Dancing With the Stars.
American dancer, singer, actress, and YouTube channel owner, 18-year-old JoJo Siwa, who previously came out as a queer, emphasized that same-sex couples in the show will show viewers that it is normal to be themselves.
On the eve of the show, it became known that Siwa will take part in the show together with a professional female dancer.
“This is really something special, because now I can not only share with the world that you can love whoever you want, but you can also dance with whoever you want …” – said Siwa in an interview with “Variety”.
“It won’t be easy, but it will give so much to the LGBTQ people, people who feel a little different. It will give them a sense of happiness,” added Siwa
Siwa added that when she received the email asking her to be a part of the show, she was asked if she wanted to be partnered with a man or a woman. It was her choice to dance with a woman.
“I want to make it OK for the people who come after me,” she said. “I want to make everything OK for the people who come after me.”

GLAAD praised Siwa for “using her platform to inspire and uplift the LGBTQ community,” and the show for making the historic move.
“The show has such a wide, far-reaching audience and there is a real opportunity here for people to celebrate the same-sex pairing and root for JoJo and all LGBTQ young people,” Anthony Allen Ramos, GLAAD’s head of talent, said.
Siwa, who is not the first LGBT celebrity to take part in the show. Before her, Olympic figure skaters Adam Rippon, Johnny Weir, tennis player Martina Navratilova, singer Lance Bass and comedian Margaret Cho entered the floor, but they were all paired with someone of the opposite sex.
