After being a runaway hit at the 2019 Sydney Mardi Gras Festival and receiving rave reviews from critics across the globe, the internationally acclaimed production of KING is back in Sydney for a limited season during WorldPride.

This Shaun Parker & Company production features exclusive live performances by the globally renowned Bulgarian singer/songwriter and Queer performance artist, Ivo Dimchev.

Dimchev’s seductive original score provides the soundtrack for this breathtaking choreographic work.

This music-dance collaboration between Australia’s highly acclaimed contemporary dance company, led by award-winning director/choreographer Shaun Parker, and Dimchev is performed by nine of Australia’s most talented young dancers, with Dimchev taking centre stage as a soulful cabaret crooner.

The setting for KING is a fantastical world, part cocktail bar and part jungle, which showcases Parker & Company’s reputation for blending hard-hitting, cutting-edge choreography with theatrical invention and musical soundscapes.

The production provides a biting examination of male power, control, and group dynamics, guaranteed to keep audiences on the edge of their seats until the very end.

Ivo Dimchev is a choreographer, visual artist, and singer-songwriter from Bulgaria. His work is an extreme and colourful mixture of performance art, dance, theatre, music, drawings, and photography.

Dimchev is the creator of more than 30 performances, has received numerous international awards for dance and theatre, and has presented his work all over Europe, South and North America.

Unfortunately, the pandemic forced the production of KING to shut down, but it is now set to rise from the ashes and officially re-launch at Sydney WorldPride Arts before embarking on a European tour.
