Most people think only women get periods, which can lead to gender-diverse people feeling uncomfortable or excluded from the period care category. With the launch of its latest collection, global absorbent apparel brand Modibodi has unveiled a new All-Gender Collection and is using its platform to break down societal taboos, driving awareness around the need for menstrual inclusion for all bodies and all genders.

Trans masc. model and Modibodi Ambassador, Oscar McGregor, joined the brand in unpacking the breadth of menstrual experiences in an intimate campaign video designed to educate and celebrate the diversity of all people who menstruate.

“To me, breaking the taboo that only women menstruate means that all people with periods can feel heard and affirmed in their experience rather than stigmatised by society,” McGregor said.

“As a member of the trans masc. community navigating my experience of period care can be extremely dysmorphic.

“The whole narrative around the menstruation is very feminine and as someone who doesn’t recognise themselves in this gendered language, it can be a really challenging experience every month.

“Working with Modibodi as part of this campaign has enabled me to not only give voice to mine and my communities experiences but to also be part of a practical real-world solution in period care, thanks to the practical design of Modibodi’s new Pride Longline Short,” McGregor concluded.

Modibodi’s new collection includes a limited-edition print of the brand’s best-selling X-Brief in a moderate-heavy absorbency, alongside the innovative new Pride Longline Short which comes in a light-moderate absorbency. Designed with a breathable merino wool gusset, helping to control odour, the black coloured lining stops unwanted stains, whilst the Longline Short includes a ‘packer’ pouch at the front offering the space for a packer or prosthetic penis should you require it.

As part of the campaign, Modibodi has partnered with Twenty10, one of Australia’s largest and longest-running LGBTQIA+ organisations, to help support the LGBTQIA+ community and elevate their voices, donating a portion of their Pride collection period pants sales to Twenty10’s programs.

Charissa Lanham, Modibodi Design and Innovation Director, said the new collection has been designed with the LGBTQIA+ community at its heart.

“We have created a product which enables people of all people to experience their period as comfortably as possible,” Lanham said.

“By working with Twenty10 and directly engaging with the LGBTQIA+ community to discuss both the product design and campaign, we have been able to develop period pants that enable people to feel comfortable in their own experience and body with the products they need to support them in any situation.”

Jain Moralee, Twenty10 Co-Executive Director, said Twenty10 is delighted to be partnering with Modibodi for the second year running.

“Talking about periods, beyond gender, can help to affirm gender diverse and LGBTQIA+ peoples experiences,” Moralee said.

“It’s fantastic to work with a brand like Modibodi, who so deeply believe in normalising the conversation about the breadth of menstrual experiences and are committed to developing their understanding of the realities of LGBTIQA+ communities through working with the Twenty10 learning and development team in the lead up to Sydney World Pride.

“The support of both their products and their donation are invaluable to our programs and the communities we work with.”

With its bright, joyful prints – the Modibodi All-Gender Collection is designed to lean into the euphoria that comes with affirming the identities of all menstruating people. Purchase a pair online at here.
