Kylie Minogue has taken advantage of the travel bubble opening between Australia and New Zealand by skipping across the Tasman Sea to visit the south island of New Zealand and spend some time with Kiwi acting legend Sam Neill.

The trip was confirmed today after Neill and then Mingue herself posted on their Instagram accounts of a visit in the past week where Minogue visited Neill’s Two Paddocks organic vineyard estate in Central Otago.

And not only was the visit confirmed but also that a duck on Neill’s property had also been name ‘Kylie’ in Minogues honour.

“#KYLIE! State Visit last week from our gorgeous pal @KylieMinogue down the farm last week,” Neill’s post exclaimed.

“We now have a pretty white Muscovy duck on the dam called #Kylie. She’s great. Kylie. The duck – very shy.”

Sam Neill has a tendency to name the animals on his farm after famous people as he explained in a 2019 interview in Vulture magazine.

The last time he counted, Sam Neill had “25 sheep, about a dozen chickens, a few goats, three pigs, and one duck”.

Neill documents his life on the farm on social media, including regular updates on the personalities and lives of his animals.

He admitted he doesn’t quite know why people have “reacted so strongly” to his rural existence, but says “it’s definitely a nice thing to have happen”.

“Meryl Streep was killed by a ferret recently. I found her as a pile of feathers one day.” Hugo Weaving (a ram) met a similar fate, but “died happy”.

As for his duck Charlie Pickering – a fan favourite among Twitter folk – Neill said he “loves being in my company and I love hanging around with him too”.

“I shouldn’t say ‘he’. I always thought Charlie was a male, and then she laid eggs one day.”

Recently Neill also spoke about a new “security chicken” he has called Bonnie Raitt.

As for Kylie she is extremely flattered to have had the duck named after her.

“YES … I’ve officially MADE IT,” Kylie said on Instagram after reposting the image of her, Neill and the new duck called Kylie.

“You can always find me at @twopaddocks now. Swipe to see! Thanks for the welcome Sam.”

Kylie has spent the past few months living back in Melbourne Australia while the pandemic has been raging in the UK. It looks as though she picked the perfect time to escape Melbourne as well as they are now in a lockdown situation due to covid-19.

Maybe she was also sourcing some wine varietals for her next wine range after the Kylie Signature range and gone gangbusters across Europe and Australia.
