Wellington Pride 2016 kicks off this weekend with an opening ceremony remembering the homosexual law reform of the 80’s.

The opening will be held at New Zealand Parliament House on Saturday night starting at 6pm.

The evening, a ticketed event which is already booked out, is an evening of remembrance, celebration and optimism for the future.

Key figures from the law reform 30 years ago including Trevor Mallard, Fran Wilde and Dana de Milo will speak to the attendees as well as some colourful performances which will include Mr Gay New Zealand Bernard Lee.

Mr Gay Wellington

The competition that introduced 2016 Mr Gay New Zealand Bernard Lee is once again looking to find their next representative.

Mr Gay Wellington competition has commenced with willing participants asked to contact Steve at the Ivy Bar to register their interest.

The winner receives $500 with the chance to represent Wellington in the Mr Gay New Zealand event next year.
