From humble beginnings, Snapchat is rapidly becoming one of the most popular way to communicate with friends and family around the world.

In the early days snapchat seemed to be just used to receive weird three second snaps of a smile, a scene or something naked.

Obviously it only appealed to some.

Today the whole world has embraced the short photo messaging and here’s proof;

  • 100 million active users worldwide
  • 400 million snaps sent per day
  • 1 billion stories published each day
  • 77% of american college students use snapchat daily
  • $3 billion is the amount Facebook reportedly offered to purchase snapchat in 2013

In the Last week, Snapchat has released a series of updates to increase the functions and features on this popular app.

With the addition of “discover” users can now access a digital magazine styled news and entertainment feed that include the likes of CNN, MTV, National Geographic, and much more.

Twitter and Facebook was inundated with complaints about the recent Snapchat update when the “best friends” feature was removed. This was used to show the world who your three most “Snapped” friends were on the app and was a great way to show popularity amongst your friends.

Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel has since tweeted out that the friends feature will be back soon.
