Police have dropped two charges of murder against alleged former police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon as he appeared in court via video link for the first time today.
The lawyer for the alleged killer, John Walford, said police had certified the former officer’s charges and while withdrawing the murder charges would be proceeding with two charges of domestic-violence-related murder and a break and enter charge.
The break and enter charge relates to an incident that occurred in August 2023 a full six months before the alleged murder of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies with the former policeman’s service firearm inside Baird’s Paddington home.
The accused appeared at Downing Centre Local Court in Sydney via video link from jail in a prison green-coloured hoody and briefly uttered a few words during the appearance. At one point he responded to the Magistrate saying, “Thank you, your honour”.
The removal of charges today is something common to police investigations where they lay multiple charges and then upon certification remove some charges.
Lamarre-Condon will appear back in court in October.
Lamarre-Condon is accused of breaking into the home of his former partner Jesse Baird in Paddington and shooting both Baird and Davies with his police service gun on February 19.
The alarm was raised after the belongings of the men and blood stains were found in a skip bin near Cronulla in Sydney’s south.
Following inquiries, police then attended the home of Baird in the inner eastern suburb of Paddington, 20 kilometres from Cronulla, and after entering the property they found signs of a scuffle, broken furniture and a significant “amount” of blood in Baird’s apartment and immediately established a crime scene.
Eventually, Lamarre-Condon handed himself into Police at Bondi Police Station four days after the incident the bodies of the two men were found at a rural property in Bungonia, near Goulburn.
