Ride-sharing giant Uber has got behind marriage equality this week by reminding their drivers to enroll or update their details on the electoral roll to be eligible to vote in the same-sex marriage postal plebiscite.

The deadline for the poll is only seven days away on August 24.

Over the last few days, a message has been sent to Uber drivers suggesting every vote is important and asking them to click on the Australian Electoral Commission website to check details.

Speaking with Eikon, Uber General Manager for Australia and New Zealand David Rohrsheim reinforced Uber’s support for equal rights.

“At Uber, we passionately support equal rights for everyone in our community,” said Mr. Rohrsheim.

“We support marriage equality and stand with the LGBTI community in cities around the world.

“We encourage all Australians to confirm their enrolment to vote before the deadline of 24 August and make their voices heard.”

If you are still to enroll or update your details visit the AEC website here.
