Nintendo’s flagship video game is preparing a special island and a whole host of festivities as part of Pride Month with the launch of Global Pride Crossing.
Global Pride is hosting a virtual Pride festival inside of Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons starting on Thursday, 18 June to honour Pride Month and create a safe space for its LGBT+ players.
Nintendo, the parent company has given support to social media company We Are Social Singapore to produce the #GlobalPrideCrossing in partnership with queer associations such as InterPride and EPOA (European Pride Organizers Association).
“When We Are Social approached us with the idea of creating a virtual space based on an already popular platform within the LGBTI + community, where people could meet, express and celebrate their identities, we jumped on the opportunity,” said Andrew Baker, co-chair of InterPride in a statement.

During this time Animal Crossing players will be provided inspiration to host their own Pride parades, through the specially-built Pride island which showcases activities such as a rainbow march, a message board, a hall of fame, a club and a catwalk, as well as a range of Pride-friendly clothing options that can be worn in the game.
The Animal Crossing Pride celebration will join the Global Pride 24-hour live stream on 27 June where Twitch creators will from around the world show off their Pride celebration creations.
