Star of Call Me By Your Name Timothée Chalamet has created the most unique and in the end chaotic entrance to the 2021 Met Gala by live-streaming his walk to the event. Starting at the Frick Madison Gallery and walking ten blocks to the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute before being mobbed by fans.
Chalamet, 25, starred as Elio in Luca Guadagnino’s Call Me by Your Name in 2017 and since then has become a much-wanted actor and now quickly becoming a fashion icon.
His entrance to the Met Gala today began at the Frick Madison Gallery in the Upper Eastside of Manhatten where he was being filmed on Instagram Live admiring a bust and other artwork for around 5 minutes.
As his Instagram Live audience grew to over 150,000 he turned and tore through a black and white American flag by French artist and photographer JR and the composer Nicholas Britell and then he eventually went down the stairwell to the foyer where he admired another artwork on the floor before leaving the gallery on the ten-block walk to the Met Gala.
As more viewers joined in his unique catwalk, Chalamet was joined by the artist JR who walked alongside him as they walked two blocks to fifth avenue and then headed straight for the red carpet.

As word reached fans waiting at the venue that Chalamet was making a unique approach, many were seen greeting him as he walked along, some surprised to see him, others boldly jumping in front of him to take selfies.
Eventually, the throng became too much for both Chalamet and the camera crew following behind and he was whisked away by event security with a slight turn and wave to the crew as he left to say goodbye.
Once at the Met Gala, Chalamet, who is one of the co-chairs for the night, arrived in an all-white ensemble by Haider Ackermann.
Reflecting on their collaboration tonight, Ackermann said to Vogue working with Chalamet on their red carpet moments always makes for a memorable end result. They see fashion as an artistic medium for much, much more.
“The exchanges we share, the conversations, the mutual respect, and brotherhood permits us to operate in a vast playing field,” said Ackermann to Vogue.
“This freedom has enabled us to constantly challenge the traditional ideals of masculinity. Timothée’s courage and fearlessness in his beliefs makes him a writer of a new generation.”
