Former Home and Away heart-throb Ben Unwin has died a day before his 42nd birthday.
Tributes have flowed in for the actor who played the role of Jesse McGregor for a decade straight out of high school.
“Police attended Minyon Falls, Whian Whian, responding to a concern for welfare,” NSW Police said in a statement.
“The body of a 41-year-old man was located. The death has not been treated as suspicious.”
His body was found at that Northern NSW property by police on August 14.
Long-running castmates Lynne McGranger and Kimberley Cooper are among those to share their grief.
McGranger, who plays Irene Roberts on the soap, described the death as a “terrible tragedy”.
“Deepest condolences to his friends and family,” she said.
Cooper, who starred alongside Unwin as Gypsy Nash, penned a tribute on Instagram.
Sharing a photo of the pair on the cover of TV Week, she wrote: “We had years of laughter, be it giggles on set trying to get through scenes as lovers or doubled over (with) belly laughs at the pubs after work.
“I will be sad for now, but I promise to tell stories of great joy about our times together.
“You forever hold a special place in my heart.”
Mr Gay Pride Australia 2019 Rad Mitic posted a message to his facebook overnight remembering Ben.
Unwin played Jesse McGregor on Home and Away between 1993 and 2005.
