The Sydney launch of a free online mentoring platform that supports young people of Diverse Sexuality and Gender (DSG) will be held this Friday night by the charity StartOut.

Friday’s launch, held at the brand new home of PWC in One International Towers Barangaroo, will mark the completion of the development and public launch of the online platform aiming to empower young DSG individuals by enabling them to be connected, feel supported, and help build their resilience through access to mentors from all walks of life.

It will also be a fundraiser that is open to the public in the hope of raising funds to continue the development of the platform, recruitment of mentors and to reach isolated DSG people who are in most need for support.

Young DSG people are between 5-14 times more likely to attempt suicide than their straight peers and are over-represented as a cohort for mental health issues including depression and anxiety.

With the ongoing public debate around marriage equality and the distress that this continues to cause for young DSG people, there has never been a more important time to offer support to the youth through mental health organisations such as StartOut.

Tickets to the launch are only $45 a head which includes canapes, wine and a $25 Vinomofo credit just for showing up.

Launch runs from 6pm to 10pm, Friday, October 13th, 2017 – Proudly hosted by PwC and you can book your tickets here.
