In an Apple first, the tech giant had released a RED version of their latest iPhone to raise money and awareness of HIV and AIDS for the upcoming world AIDS day.
Parenting with RED Apple CEO Tim Cook says, “the introduction of this special edition iPhone in a gorgeous red finish is our biggest RED offering to date in celebration of our partnership with RED, and we can’t wait to get it into customers’ hands.”
Following on from turning their App Store and top apps red, Apple’s RED iPhone 7 aims to highlight the AIDS fundraising campaign for the annual world AIDS day, with arguably the most striking colour choice yet.
With ordering available from 4:01 am on the March 25, every purchase of the RED iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, contributes to the Global Fund to support HIV/AIDS programs and help deliver an AIDS-free generation.
World AIDS Day is held on the 1st December each year and is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died.
World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day, held for the first time in 1988.
