Ellen DeGeneres will be honoured with a People’s Choice humanitarian award for her work in anti-bullying, animal rights, and her continued support of charities.
The People’s Choice humanitarian award which comes with a donation of 200,000 USD from Walgreens will be awarded to DeGeneres who plans to gift the prize to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital with clinics across the US.
DeGeneres joked that the award sums her up perfectly as she is “both a human and an itarian,” according to the wire service.
A list of various causes and charities that are recommended by Ellen, can be found on her Talk Show’s website. Her Talk Show also features regular segments in which individuals who have fallen on hard times are presented with assistance during their time of need.
DeGeneres recently teamed-up with Caitlyn Jenner to help a trans nursing student (Blossom Brown who had featured on Jenner’s docu-series, I Am Cait) advance her education and donated $20,000 to her cause.
DeGeneres has since been nominated as Favourite Talk Show Host for the fan-selected People’s Choice Awards, which will be held at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles later this week.
