New Zealand’s Super Rugby Teams are embracing diversity this weekend with many donning rainbow coloured shoe laces to throw their support behind the #ForEveryone round.
Hundreds of pairs of brightly coloured boot laces have been issued to the teams especially for this weekend’s double-derby blockbuster round as New Zealand Rugby encourages teams and fans to celebrate their unity in being rugby fans.
The Hurricanes and All Blacks Loose Forward Victor Vito displayed his support for the cause following last night’s game against the Highlanders, showing off his rainbow laces.
Sitting next to teammate Ardie Savea, Victor posted the message “With diversity week @ardiesavea and I went Rainbow laces in support of our gay brothers and sisters!! We ain’t got no time for discrimination just love”
Highlander star Malakai Fekitoa showed his support as well through Twitter posting a picture of his colourful laces before the match last night.
His message was similar, “Wearing these Colorful laces to show my support for diversity. Rugby is for everyone.”

Blues import Piers Francis was all colours as well last night donning the pink laces to support diversity round.
“Supporting the diversity focus tonight with my colourful laces. Very appropriate for me having been shown the love regardless of my accent! #diversity”
New Zealand Rugby General Manager Neil Sorensen said the rugby community is stronger because we are all different.
“This week is about acknowledging our fans and players who come from all walks of life,” said Mr Sorensen.
“Wearing bright laces or any bright colours are an easy way for people to support the idea that regardless of shape or size, background or beliefs, rugby is a game for everyone.”
