Fear has gripped the Kenyan LGBT community this morning as the country woke to the front page of a local tabloid newspaper exposing LGBT people.

Homosexuality has been a notable topic in Kenya recently following a ruling that the government allow the registration of gays and lesbian organizations after a court deemed them a minority group which needs recognition.

The ruling has sparked outrage from Kenyans who are naturally known to be reserved and hold cultures and morals that do not allow the practice of homosexuality in their country.

As Kenyans remain divided over this issue, a popular weekly newspaper The Weekly Citizen has caused a stir in the capital and beyond after publishing names and photos of popular Kenyans who it alleges are top in the list of gays and homosexuals.

Local website Ghafla is suggesting that among those in the list are popular men and women who have had an impact in Kenya and beyond.

Top radio personality Maina Kageni, Professor Makau Mutua, celebrated author Binyavanga Wainaina, John Githongo and many others are among those who have been mentioned in the paper.
